Frank de Bakker
IÉSEG School of Management

Since September 2016, I am working at the Department of Management of IÉSEG School of Management in Lille as a full professor in Corporate Social Responsibility. Here, I am co-ordinating ICOR (IÉSEG's Centre for Organizational Responsibility) and am a member of the Laboratoire LEM (Lille Economics Management - a CNRS research laboratory). I teach a variety of courses and study elements of CSR in different contexts.

I am an active member of EGOS, the European Group for Organization Studies where I am one of the coordinators of the Standing Working Group on ‘The changing role of business in a global society’, of IABS, the International Association for Business and Society, and of AOM, the Academy of Management.

I am one of the co-editors of Business & Society, one of the leading journals in our field. In addition, I am on several editorial boards, including Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Organization & Environment and Business Strategy and the Environment.

Before joining IÉSEG, I worked for many years at the department of Organization Sciences of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. There I have been a program director and  a member of the board of the Faculty of Social Sciences, responsible for all teaching at this Faculty: some 3400 students, over 300 teaching staff in 5 bachelor programs and 7 master programs. In 2013/2014 I spent a sabbatical year at Copenhagen Business School, hosted by cbsCSR.

From 1989 until 1995 I studied Environmental Science at Wageningen University, specializing in policy and management and doing internships at the Institute for Forestry and Nature Research in the Netherlands and at Monash University in Australia; between 1997 and 2001 I worked as a PhD researcher at the Faculty of Technology and Management of the University of Twente, conducting research on Product-Oriented Environmental Management.
